I've finally got my finger out!

After an intensive month of teaching I am finally finding myself with a little more time to catch up on everything that has been put to the side, this includes my knitted scarf that I started a year ago and my rather neglected and sorry looking blog.

Antony Gormley @ White Cube

To be be brutally honest I've never been much of an Antony Gormley fan but I was absolutely blown away by his glow in the dark sculpture - Breathing Room III, which was recently exhibited at the White Cube.  It was exciting to be able to interact with the sculpture and having to maneuver in the dark really heightened my senses and bring awareness of my own personal existence.  In addition to this, for me it was a little reminiscent of the cult eighties film Tron.

Rude Britannia @ Tate Britain

It's so easy to forget about the beauty of hand rendered illustration in the digital world that I find myself in, so seeing Gerald Scarfe's illustrations at the Rude Britannia exhibition was greatly refreshing for me.

Francis Alys @ Tate Modern

Francis Alys's work is engaging and humorous. I was particularly drawn to his piece 'Re-enactment' which consisted of two videos shown side by side, on the left the original footage of Francis purchasing a gun and walking through the streets of Mexico until he is arrested, and on the right a sensationalised re-enactment of the event.
Much of Francis's work consists of video pieces, and despite my issues with motion sickness combined with his shaky camera footage I did really enjoy the exhibition even though much of the time was spent fighting the waves of nausea.
