Heart Still Life
Simon Ward's photography is unconventional in both it's subject matter and process. He creates his artwork using a flat bed scanner to capture the exquisite detail in his pieces. The photos remind me of the Dutch paintings of the 17th Century with it's very detailed and textured subjects/objects engulfed by the rich black backgrounds. The colours are highly seductive and the unconventional subject matter which often is an exploration of 'death' is aesthetically beautiful and captivating.
